Hi! I'm Haylee

Welcome to Marshmallow Children's Books.

Marshmallow Children's Books was born from the joy reading has brought to my home. As a mum of three, so much of my day is spent reading with my children. At least once a day, you will find us huddled up together getting completely lost in beautiful stories, and in awe at the illustrations. As you can imagine, our book collection has grown massively in the almost 6 years since I became a mum. We somehow have a collection downstairs, upstairs, in the toy room and in the kids room! My love for hunting down extra special books (the kind that really leave an imprint on my babies hearts) led me to sharing that passion through Marshmallow.

Our family is built on Salvadoran, Wiradjuri, British, and Indian heritage. So finding children's books that reflect the beautiful diversity of our home has always been especially important to me. I want my children to see parts of themselves in the books we read, and to learn the parts of their heritage I'm still learning how to teach them, while also discovering worlds beyond their own.

I am also a writer currently completing my Master's in Writing, Editing and Publishing. So storytelling holds a pretty big place in my life. My own manuscript in progress has received awards and commendations. Though while I am deep in raising babies and reading children's books right now, my own writing has been slow going to say the least! Though one day soon, my goal is to share my own stories with you also. You can read a little bit more about me through this piece published by Griffith Review.

Rather than stocking thousands of books, I have been carefully curating a collection that my children and I genuinely love. Books that spark that childlike wonder, celebrate culture, identity and belonging, imagination, family and the magic of childhood.

Thank you to all of you who have supported me so far.
